Los Angeles Transportation
Los Angeles is a staggeringly large city that spreads out over hundreds of miles of the flat lands of Southern California. Getting from one end of the city to another can take half a day, and the sheer distance between the different attractions there means that whether you are visiting on business or pleasure, you will normally need to arrange some kind of Los Angeles transportation for the duration of your stay simply to see what you want to.
Perhaps the most effective form of Los Angeles transportation is the car. Although the roads do get clogged during rush hour, at other times of the day and in the late evening, the wide multi lane highways that connect the various areas that make up LA are easy to navigate, and offer quick routes from one place to another.
If you do not want to spend your time in LA driving from one location to another, then there are still plenty of options available when it comes to Los Angeles transportation. The city has a limited subway network that links the main areas such as the downtown LA region with Long Beach and Beverley Hills, and there are also plenty of buses that operate simple to follow routes between many of the main tourist and business areas.
Some of the larger hotels in the city provide private shuttle services between their lobby and major areas such as the beaches and major shopping malls such as those in the fashion district, although the major disadvantage of these tends to be the relatively low levels of service, and they are generally not the most reliable means of Los Angeles transportation under most circumstances.
Of course, the most convenient method of getting around in LA for anyone who has not rented a car for the duration of their stay is to use the widely available taxi services. These operate throughout most major areas, and the drivers are knowledgeable about the best routes between most areas that you would want to visit. If you are looking for great value Los Angeles transportation without needing to make a commitment to hire a car for the whole length of your stay, then relying on taxi services is the next best thing, and in many ways is even better, because you only need pay for what you use, and can relax and enjoy the view rather than worrying about whether you are going in the right direction.
